Wanted romantic weekend away

We are a married couple 46 and 51. Looking for a town that has a beautiful, clean beach, Hotel atleast 4 stars within walking distance possibly. Nice restaurants with good food. Nothing fancy. Want to get away for a long weekend in July. We went to LBI last year and stayed at a B&B near the beach and had a good time but want to try a new location this year.

Thanks!

I would suggest Spring Lake staying at the Hewitt Wellington. It is a lovely town with a few good restaruants.

Also check out the Blue Bay Inn, a boutique hotel in Atlantic Highlands. You can walk to many fine restaurants, including Copper Canyon (right next door) and Indigo Moon, two of this area's best. You're a short drive from beaches at Sandy Hook National Park, Sea Bright, and Monmouth Beach. You can also take the SeaStreak Ferry over from Manhattan. If you are so inclined, you can spend a day at Monmouth Park racetrack, or check out Red Bank, 'the hippest town in NJ', for some nice shops, restaurants, and galleries. FYI, clothes and shoes are tax free in NJ. The hotel is really nice - definitely romantic - but keep in mind weekends in July are peak around here, so brace yourself for steep prices.

Have fun,

Yes..Spring Lake, the Hewitt Wellington (2 blocks to beach), Chateau (about 7 blocks to beach), the Breakers, the Victorian (both across from beach), there are other B&Bs to choose from.

or go further down the coast to Cape May, Many, many superb choices to stay and dine, great beach, very victorian, very romantic. The Virginia Hotel, Southern Mansion, Carroll Villa, Queen Victoria, Main Stay, just to name a few.

Spring Lake is lovely, cute little town, it is also known as the Irish Riviera. Good little restaurants, nice beach and boardwalk. Not sure you could do without the car for everything, but in Cape May, park your car when you get there and no need for it the rest of the trip.

Then of course we also have Ocean Grove, Sea Girt, Manasquan, and Point Pleasant. No four stars but lovely B&B.
