Bluer water and fewer shells

The lady and I are staying now in a rented condo Ft Myers Beach and agreeing to visit Florida again next year. As much as we have enjoyed our stay here, I keep thinking of what could possibly be improved on. We like calm waters so it must be the Gulf Coast. However, we like walking barefoot in the sand, and while this is no big problem in FMB, maybe there is a place along the coast with even fewer or without shells? Also the color of the water here is no problem, but blue would be very nice. We like to stay on a high floor so high rise buildings is no problem.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Since Ft Myers Beach and Sanibel are world-renowned for the shelling....

You might look a bit further north, to Siesta Key. Fewer shells.

The water is shallow, so it will never been the deep blue of the open ocean.
