Help with Coastal Trip

We live in Charleston SC and are taking four days to driver to Baltimore. Need help with some coastal places to go. We have quite a bit of water scenes here so that is not our main focus. We are both somewhat serious photographers and like to drive through small towns with downtown areas of interest. Not interested in Civil War stuff but like old buildings and ruins. Like to walk around and look at buildings but not especially looking to shop. Any suggestions. We will stop two nights Sunday/Monday 3/24 and 3/25.

Check out Portsmouth Village on the Outer Banks.

Beaufort (NC), Bath, New Bern and Washington, North Carolina might also capture your interest.

Almost forgot about St. Philips!

The Orton Plantation near there is now closed to the public, btw.

You could also add Edenton to the list.

There's nothing like it in Chucktown.
