Canadian Rockies

Hi, We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 9 and 5) living in Gibraltar and would like to travel through the Canadian Rockies next year round the month of June for 10 days. We would start in Calgary and end in Vancouver, could we have advise where to go, how may days to stay in each place and what route would be the best? Thanks

Start by reading the top questions about the Canadian Rockies and trip reports. The later into June you can postpone your trip the more that will be open and snow melted, warmer weather as well.

Come back with more specific questions about your interests, budget etc. then we can help you fine tune your trip.

Welcome to the TripAdvisor forums, Romina. If you look over to the top right of your computer screen, at the "Top Questions" section, you'll see the second one concerns itineraries. If you click on it, the link in it will take you to a compilation of trip reports from other TA users like you and me. There is a similar compilation in the TQ's on the British Columbia forum.

Also, have a read through some of the various forums, since your itinerary is one that is done by many thousands of people every summer. You will probably find that browsing this "Canadian Rockies" forum as well as the "British Columbia" one will give you a lot of the background information you need.

Romina, you will probably want to get out of Calgary right away and drive to Canmore, a great town with plenty of great restaurants and not so many tourists clogging the streets. Are you planning on heading north towards Banff and Jasper? The must do's in Canmore is going into Kananaskis Nat'l Park. Around Banff, it's Lake Louise, and if you really like hikes, trek all the way up to the Agnes Tea House. The Johnston Canyon is another must do in the Banff area. In Jasper it's the Mt. Edith Cavell and ice glaciers. There are hundreds of other cool things to see and do, but those are just highlights. We spent just a day short of two weeks in the Rockies and still didn't see everything. I so want to go back some day.
