Hi Kimmer9396,

I could not wait to reply to your post, we have gone to mexico in july for the last 7 years, skipped one year, the weather has been beautiful, it did rain only 4 times in 7 years, during the day which lastest about 1/2 an hour and once at night for about an hour. be prepared as it will be hot, hot, hot but that is what the pool and ocean are for, Our kids were 10 and 13 the first time and they loved it, so much to do, with us watching, they played pool games, beach sports, etc. We alternate the years with kids so then they went back at 13 and 16, 16 year old son got certified in scuba diving, went to class etc, then they were 15 and 18 the third time, so drinks for the daughter, watching the son like a hawk, they had a blast. I hope your family can start a tradition like we did, mom & dad one year, with kids the next, etc. etc. , when they got older the cheerleading competions, hockey tourments etc, consumed our lives so mom & dad did need 5 out of 365 days to ourselves , then next year they came!!! go enjoy!!! We have stayed at Moon Palace,Barcelo and Gran Bahia with the kids!

Kimmer,

I go every year in July and the weather is great. It's hot, but you're at the beach, how hot can it really be? We stayed at Barcelo Tropical last year and it was perfect. We had a 16 and 19 yr old with us, who loved the place. The beach is very nice, calm water, lots of activities. The only thing I didn't like was the reservation system, which I just oppose in general. I don't want to be on a schedule on vacation. I have also stayed at the Iberostars, which are nice as well, beach is better at Barcelo. Enjoy!

Hi Kimmer,

We go twice a year, once in July and then in early winter with our kids ( now 13 & 15). We've been doing this since our oldest was an infant and it is a wonderful family vacation.

Yes, it's hot. Plan on staying at a resort that has airconditioned buffets and a la cartes for your July trip.

Plan your trips off the resort for early in the day and so you can relax in the pool or ocean during the heat of the day.

We've had some rain in July but usually no more than an occasional shower lasting for just a short time.

We used to love it when July was considered 'off season' but it is now one of the top 3 busy months in Cancun and Playa.

Have a great trip.
