Getting there earlier- VIM

Just checked with Apple Vacations and our flight leaves STL at 0630 rather than 0925, 9/20. Too bad that means we have to wake up at 0230 to leave for the airport, it also means we arrive at the Valentin Imperial Maya at around 1030 to start the vacation. I think I can live with that.

Ouch, 2:30 am is a little harsh but whoot to the early vacation start!

I'm sure you're already aware but check-in time at the VIM is 3pm, so don't be surprised if your room isn't available.

Have a fab time!

I know, we have been on 30 some Mexican vacations and all of the resort's rooms are available after 3pm. Actually not an issue for me because I wear my beach trunks and a Guadalajara Chivas soccer jersey on the plane. I'm ready to hit the beach / swim up bar as soon I check in. We are also aware the VIM has a courtesy room so our ladies are able to change. I may have to stop into Don Miguel's for a few espressos to kick start my evening.

Yeah, I kinda figured you knew the ropes as far as early check in is concerned but was really more giving a heads-up to anyone else who might be reading this thread.

Are your beach trunks Speedos?

We were just notified by funjet that our flight on Nov 30 will be a couple hours earlier too. Don't mind arriving in Mexico early, but they also changed our departure from Cancun too. They have us departing before noon! I hate It! I like to stay as long as I can....!

We were so early to the VIM last year that our group went straight to Don Miguel's instead of to the check-in lobby. After we took our 1st celebratory tequila shot and had a nice drink we got one to go then headed back to the front desk. Luckily we all got in rooms earlier than expected!

I like arriving earlier. We check in, go have lunch, a couple of drinks, and then go back to see if our room is ready. It lets us get a feel for a new resort or see what has changed at a favorite. That being said, our flight doesn't leave DFW until 10:25, which is the latest we've ever departed. My husband didn't want a super early flight this year. Of course, after I booked it, he said, "I don't know why I worried about getting up at 4 in the morning, we never sleep the night before anyway."

I think our best flight/trip was when we took Spirit froom Detroit to Cancun. We left at 6:25am, arrived in Cancun at 9:25am, and we had our feet in the pool drinking celebratory champagne (wife) and beer/tequila (for me) by 10:15am.

That was nice to get another full day of vacation in. It was our return visit to SSS.
