Good for Families?

Am looking at booking the Marelen Hotel for next August, will be travelling with a 2 year old and 8 year old. Is the Resort Family friendly..ie lots of places with kids menus, family entertainment in bars etc. Also is there any family places to visit in the day, water parks etc?

Hello County1883,

Just got back from kalamaki a few weeks ago. I went with children aged 10 and 5. I found the resort very child friendly. The restaurants all very family orintated with children menus some had colouring pencils/paper for them to do while waiting. The beach is lovely as the sea is shallow and calm for the little ones. The water park is ok. The main one in kalamaki is the Caretta beach which you can go into daily for 50 euro a day for a family of 4 and it included a drink and a snack within the price. It opened at 10.30 to 5.30, At night the caretta beach has a fun park which includes bouncy castles/go carts/ride-on slot rides it was good and my children enjoyed it. I can't comment on family entertainment in bars as we mostly ate out then went for a walk and then ended up in our hotel bar each night but all bars we went passed looked all familes. Kalamaki is a family resort - it;s up the road were all the drunk youngsters are in Laganas so no worries there. We went into the marelen for a look around and it looked good and we knew some people at our hotel that went to the kids clubs there and they loved it. Hope you have a great time there.

Hello Fionalou,

We went twice in the caretta beach water park. It worked out good value to go 7 days in a row as this was 100 euro for 2 adults and 2 children. But this do not include drinks/snacks as per daily rate. We are planning doing this next year as when we discovered it we were into our last few days of our hols. As to your question it was 15 euro per adult and 10 euro per child and the snack was a pizza slice/fish fingers & chips/cheese toastie and the drink was blackcurrant or orange squash. If I was turthful the snack wasn't very nice and very small - not really a lunch for an adult IMO but we went out onto the main strip to the Olive Tree for a lovely lunch and then back in as you get wristbanded up so you can go in and out as you like for the day. Hope this helps. x

We stayed at the marelen twice with our 6 year old daughter. Absolutely perfect for kids - great kids club, but if they don't want to go there, there are plenty of children to play with by the pools. Always lots going on. The resort is lovely too.
