Hi , I'm not an expert but I know you can easily get a bus into Zante Town. It is close. Especially if it's a cloudy day. A bit of shopping, a long lunch watching the world go by.

As Tal874 said only places of interest really by the local bus service is town. Anywhere else it would have to be a guided tour. The coach trip around the island is your best option.

Yes. All the buses run into town & then you'd change for any other destination. Somewhere on here there's a timetable etc for the buses. If you put ktel (the local buses) in the search box you should find it.

Its not a great service. you can get from resort to resort with interchange in town but to go to the west coast and places of interest such as Damianou Caves, Exa Hora, Porta Limnionas, Kampi, The Monastery etc etc you can't get to these places on the public service.

That depends on what you're interested in seeing. As Kev said, the bus service isn't brilliant. Probably from Kalamaki (via Town) the best thing would be to go up the east coast for Tsilivi, Alykes/Alykanas & maybe Aghios Nikolaos but apart from Ag Nik you'll just be seeing more resorts like kalamaki.

There's enough in & around Town to go there maybe a couple of times & perhaps take the "Tourist Train" to Argassi for a couple of hours.

To see any of the west coast you might want to take a "round the island" coach trip to get a flavour.

The best way to see a lot of the island is to hire a car etc & do your own thing.

Yes, agree with sylvnies. We tried doing bus first time we went to Zante and found it a trek to get to anywhere other than Zante town!! Takes forever and too hot and uncomfortable.

Best bet really if you're not hiring a car is to use tour operators in Kalamaki who go to anywhere worth seeing. I believe they're good and not too expensive.

We always hire jeep now as we love beaches in Vasilikos (south of Kalamaki), but Ag Nik up north is worth a visit for Blue Caves etc.

It's the different resorts we like, so we could get by bus to those places you mentioned
