Bright light over Los Cristianos

This may be a silly question but I am just back from Los Cristianos and am intrigued by a light that was in the sky every evening after dark. It was too close to be a star and seemed initially to stay still but eventually moved in PDLA direction before disappearing so don't think it was a plane. It was a white light and I was wondering if it could be a satellite or something.

Has anyone else seen it or know what it is?

Really want to know the answer to this as we have argued about it.

We thought it was a satellite too ?

It's Venus. It's been very prominent after sunset recently.

I drove up to Las Canadas in September to see the stars, it was a spectacular sight, well worth the trip.

We was told by reception that it was some sort of satellite system and it's been bright each and every night and never moved. .....?

Its in the same orbit as the Sun ,so it would appear not to move .It was at its brightest in October this year

It's defintiely not a satellite, it's far too bright and.not.moving, satellites appear as slow moving, starlike objects. Venus is by far the brightest object in the night sky after the moon and is called the morning or evening star, because it appears just before sunrise or just after sunset. Look towards the sunset this evening, it will be the first object to appear as the sun sets. Incidentally, if you look overhead later on in the evening, you will see another bright 'star', this is Jupiter.
