Transfer from airport with baby

Hi, we're travelling to Punta Prima soon with our baby (he'll be 4.5 months). It's our first trip with him and obviously will need a car seat for the journey from airport to resort.

Is it best to pre-book a transfer? If so can anyone recommend a reputable company that will provide a baby seat? Or should we really bring our own (not keen on that idea at all!)

Thanks

Claire

Booking in advance is your best bet, although if it is a private transfer it will not be a problem to get a baby seat, but if it is a tour operator, as ours has been a couple of times, you may have to keep the child on your lap, they don't seem to be as fussy about it for some reason.

As bgekk has said, it depends on what type of transfer.

If Taxi, I would book it in advance, and make them aware you need a car seat.

A couple of years back, there was an issue on a transfer coach I was on, what ran out of seats. It was as a result of small children being in some, when as far as the holiday company rep was concerned, the price for an infant (under 2), does not include their own seat on a transfer. They are expected to sit on a lap, however they will let them have a seat, if its not needed by an adult, or older child (over 2), as the price they pay does include it.

I would check with your transfer company, as also regulations that cover seatbelts etc in Spain, or the holiday companys policy, might of changed since then.

We used to take ours with us as we always hire a car and we're too tight to rent a seat! On a few ocassions we asked to move to a seat in the plane with an empty seat next to, and strapped baby in his car seat on the plane. Was great-he slept all the way while we read our magazines and got to eat our meal in peace-result! If you don't get luckywith a seat, put in the overhead locker. I'm pretty sure the taxi driver wouldn't care less if you had baby on your knee, if you feel comfortable with that. Good luck and enjoy Punta Prima!
