In theory anything is possible but no, not really. The site is on the road between Alaior and Son Bou ( see www.menorcaminorca.co.uk/torredengalmes.html ) and although you can walk around the headland from Santo Tomas to Son Bou that part of the journey alone would take at least 50 mins and you would then have to trek out through the back of Son Bou some distance inland from there uphill .

If you wanted to do it as cheaply as possible you could get the Mahon bus and get off in Alaior and take a taxi from there ( the people in the ticket office could then order you a taxi back) but unless you are going in high season when car hire is really expensive I recommend hiring a car in the resort and doing all the sites that interest you by car. You will get a free basic map with the main sites mentioned on it fro the car hire people ( try and get a free copy of Menorca Explorer too it usually has good town street maps in it) but can also buy a map in the resort which will have things like Torres de'n Gaume on it. If you have a car do try and find time drive up to the top of Monte Toro as the views out across the island are great . La Mola fort outside Mahon is easy by car too

MenReg, you should have gone to Specsavers (no offense). You've answered as though they're coming from Santo Tomas.

Mmmnnn yes you are perfectly correct Caroliner - can't even blame my faux pas on drink HaHa.

Sorry welaj - cut out the bit about the walk from Santo Tomas but I still wouldn't walk up to the site because you will take some time going around it and in the hot son I would say the walk there and back plus exploring the site would be one step too far unless you are very keen walkers!

As are staying in Son Bou it is a nice walk to go FROM Son Bou along the beach in the westerly direction up along the cliff path around the headland to Santo T ( daylight walk only) stopping for a nice cold drink in Es PIns when you arrive and. Ca'N Berto ( behind the shops midway along Santo Tomas) does a very nice menu del dia !

bit far to walk but they hire e-bikes ( bicycles with electric motor ) in Son Bou centre so a ride would be feasible and the little country lanes there are nice to explore

We didn't do that particular walk this past week, but we did walk back from Alaior to Son Bou via a very interesting and beautiful old quarry off the Sant Jaume road. Also, the stretches of the Cami de Cavalls which passes through Son Bou either towards Cala Galdana or to Cala en Porter are very beautiful and enjoyable if you are a keen walker. We also walked the coastal path to Cala Escorxada which is also very enjoyable if a little challenging, but the tree cover provides welcome shade in many parts. Take plenty of water and set off early before it gets too hot!

In case anyone reading this is interested not just on how to get there but whether it is worth going I went to visit the site yesterday for the first time in several years and access and info is much improved. Approaching from inland by road you reach a small car park with an info centre ( and loos ) where there are info boards, a couple of short videos about the site and copies of some of the artifacts that were found there. You can buy your entry tickets there or at the main car park ( down the road a little at the entry to the site) and at only 3euros per adult ( free on Mondays) it is excellent value IMO. There are some guide books too but there is no pressure to buy them

.

We spent nearly 2 hours wandering around, reading the info plaques and inspecting the ruins so sun hats and water are essential. Most of the paths are newly laid and there are seats scattered around the site but the lower areas where the very interesting ruins of dwellings and the settlement's irrigation systems can be seen only have uneven gravel paths which could be an issue if you have a buggy with you.
