How did you decide on this location? Just curious, I am liking them the best by their great reviews. I also was interested in the Palladium Lady Hamilton as that looks beautiful but reviews not as good.

When we were looking, at first, it was going to be Secrets WO, a friend had been there and recommended it. The reviews on here, led us to the Grand. And we had been to the Iberostar Bavaro recently, so I knew the IB name meant quality...really glad we opted for the Grand!!!

Sort through the reviews, we have found, for the most part, you can count on them to be accurate. Of course, some reviewers will never be satisfied, its pretty obvious most times. Weed those out, and balance the rest, you can figure out if a place is gonna be right for you, or not. ENJOY !!

The Palladium is no where close to being as nice as the IB Grand. There is simply no comparison in any category.

Thanks for the feedback I am going to book the Iberstar and looking forward going on the April 5th. We honeymooned at Sandals 26 yrs ago and loved it but want to try something different. Also I have some questions if anybody can answer. I know that we will be tipping even though its included but can you tell me what you amount you think is fair for the person handling our luggage to the room and I am not sure if that is our butler. Did anyone take the fall tour/rafting trip and is that booked thru the hotel? Or did anyone swim with the dolphins in the Ocho rios area. Any info that you think would be helpful will be appreciated. My husband and I are 49 & 50 yrs old. Thanks.

The bellman takes your luggage to your room. We give $5 per bag. The butler will do things such as iron, make dinner reservations, get you a bottle of high end liquor, etc. We tipped $5-10. You really wont see the butler much unless you call for them. We did not use the butler often. Reggae Tours can line you up with the tours you asked about. They will be cheaper than booking with the hotel.

Enjoy the Grand! We are going back next month.

Have a great time on your next trip. Just another question if you don't mine. I just saw someone elses question about cruise ships porting during the week and uses the premises. Do you recall this happening at Iberstar or they do not come to this resort. Just curious as maybe we will do an excursion that day. thanks.

We were there in Oct, and no, there was no influx of folks from cruise ships. We did the Martha Brae rafting, was nice, and worth doing. We also did the catamaran cruise, I think it was called the Fury, that was a lot of fun. It takes you to Margaritaville for a brief stop.

I can pretty much guarantee the Grand does not have cruise ship folks.

I would like to do both of those tours too. We had done the rafting one when we came 26yrs ago and the falls. Would love to do them again. We are probably booking the regular suite and hope to get an upgrade. My travel agent said she will try to do what she can maybe write a letter that we are good customers and are celebrating an anniversary. Did you guys stay in an ocean front or ocean view. All three room types look great. Do you know if there are any casinos in Montego Bay? Just wondering.

We had an oceanfront room with the big swing on the porch. A smile and folded $20 goes a long way in getting an upgrade when you check in. I see you are going 4/5, so they may be quite full. There is a small casino with slot machines in Mo Bay. The Grand has a handful of slot machines on site.

Agree 100% with cebakes, sounds like we've been to many of the same places lol. Honestly, I tried to email them, and never got a reply, for whatever reason. A little tip money really goes a long way in these places, these folks are working for a lot less than we are used to. We also ended up in an oceanfront room, wouldnt have had to tip anybody to get it, but did anyway, I was counting on it, in the "budget". Of course, this was last Oct, and they werent very crowded at all.
