Help from TA Montego Bay experts

We are coming in March and have researched the area to some extent. Looking at several of the Couples resorts and the Grand. If you had to choose and budget could accommodate - where would you stay and why? Thanks so much for your insights.

What all do you plan on doing while there? Any excursions? That may make a difference on locations. Plus what is important to you in a resort?

We want to relax. Swim, snorkel, kayak, eat well, have a few treatments at the spa, walk, walk, and some more walking. Also, use the gym facilities daily. Ideally we prefer an adults only resort. Thanks for taking the time to assist.

I travel to Jamaica for a resort with a caribbean style and a wonderful beach. For me, that is not the Grand, but it does fit Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril.

The Grand looks like a wonderful resort, but if I want that kind of glam, I would go back to Mexico. However, if that style appeals to you, the Grand has a great reputation and I am sure it will not disappoint.

I also want a resort where I pay one price up front, and do not worry about extra charges along the way. At Couples , things like water sports ( snorkeling, scuba, water skiing, glass bottom boats ) , catamaran cruise, shopping trips, transportation to and from the airport , golf and truly no tipping , are included at Couples.

Imo, Montego Bay in no way compares to 7 mile beach in Negril. Even if you were to place the Grand on 7 mile beach, it just would not fit in. CSA and CN both fit Negril: their style and the laid back vibe they promote.

CSA probably has the nicest work out area, and the most included sports activities that you will find at a resort.

You love to walk, walk, walk, while then CSA sounds like a great fit.

Where ever you end up, enjoy Jamaica !

Also, Couples does not have any resorts in Montego Bay. It only has resorts in Ocho Rios and Negril. To get perspective from more people, may want to consider posting on the Jamaica forum instead of just Montego Bay. I actually found your question by accident, because I no longer stay in Montego bay.

You say you are "Looking at several of the Couples resorts and the Grand." and you want to "walk, walk, and some more walking". Couples resorts and the Grand are both quality resorts. They are also about the same as to the other things you say you want in a resort. To walk a lot you want to go to Couples Swept Away as the Grand and the other Couples resorts have less sand to walk on.

I have to say it is the Grand for us,ticks all the boxes, good food ,drink and very nice rooms, also adult only.

We have been to all the Grand hotels and Rose Hall comes second in our opinion to Mexico, just booked again for April, we love the Jamaican people and culture, but if you are looking for the WOW factor the Grand in Mexico just tips the scales, but the hotels are very good

I totally agree with forest boy,

The grand is awesome, been there twice. Just came back from 10 days vacation. The food. The high quality drinks and one of the biggest plus for us was the star friends. We took our 2 adults kids with us and we had so much fun. However, forget about walking, walking, walking, very short beach.

The spa was nice, we all had massages but the spa is in serious need of renovation.

I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Going to the Sandals Royal Plantation in 40 days, can't wait to go back to Jamaica!!!!!

Have fun!

Alex
