Recommended restaurants - harbour / Old Town area.

We're visiting Lanzarote in March, staying at Las Calas resort on a timeshare exchange. We've been to Lanzarote before but always stayed down at Playa Blanca so don't know PDC too well.

Any suggestions for good restaurants would be appreciated. Although we're not into Chinese or Indian food we'd be interested in all other ideas.

Hi Keitht

Bodecco's is a good 'un; if you go on www.discoverlanzarote.com, and look at old threads, you'll find loads of recommendations. Alternatively, ask again, and I'm sure lots of lovely people like overhere, oleoleole and cymmon will help you out.

Have a wonderful time.

Keith,

PDC is teeming with restaurants, most ok to good and some very good.

The Old Town is generally considered the best area for eating, try any of the harbour front ones, they’re all pretty good and specialise in Fish. La Lonja is one of our favourites, it’s the big square white building between the church and the lifeboat, has al la carte and tapas menus. Casa Roja, the red building to the front and right is an excellent setting for a meal on the veranda overlooking the harbour at sunset.

There are a quite a few others that are in less prominent positions, La Canada is a more formal restaurant on Calle Cesar Manrique (just behind C/Atlantico), Monmartre (French) and El Tomate next to the Biosfera Center in the Old Town come well recommended but never been myself and may possibly be slightly pretentious, just a few yards further towards the Old Town is Magnolia which is an excellent (and unpretentious) well established restaurant. Emma’s Cantina on Calle Tiede behind the Old Town is a well recommended Mexican.

Bodecas, Quentins and Cabana (all Old Town) also get frequent good reviews, but haven’t been myself.

La Casa del Parmigiano (Italian) is just outside the Old Town on the sharp corner at the very start of the strip directly in front of Deportivo Fariones and is currently our No 1 fave.

La Dolce Vita in the Old Town is also worth a try, we were there about 7 out of 14 times the other 7 split between Marinero's along the strip, which was excellent & Lani's on the front by the casino, of which I thought was the best of all Lani's restaurants, I've tried them all over the years but always go back to this one. Enjoy!!

You re very organised!P.D.C. has a lot of restaurants,we own a place over there and have found Bodecos in the old town the absolute best, its owned by an Irish man and his Polish partner, the desserts are homemade and to die for,you feel you're "out" for the evening,it has such a lovely atmosphere and Bo the polish lady is so so nice and genuine,I cant reccommend this place highly enough,we ve sent all our friends and they have always come back to us singing its praises..Its a little off the beaten track but ask and youll find it(Dont get it mixed up with Bodega,a tapas place, nice but not in the same league)Do enjoy P.D.C. we re going over next week for two weeks and Im literally counting the days!

Only a week to go now, so if there are any current favourites I'd love to hear about them.

El Golfo is another option. It's on the hill going up to the Biosphere shopping center on the left as you go up from the harbour.

I too have stayed at Diamond Las Callas. I really like Puerto Bahir in the old town/harbour. I've always had great meals there.

We've just returned from Lanzarote and had excellent meals in both Casa Roja and Puerta Bahia in the PDC harbour. Both have great locations overlooking the harbour, with Casa Roja being a little cosier. Both also have heated terraces (the evenings could be a bit cool last week). We had delicious hake at Casa Roja and a spectacular zarzuela at Peurta Bahia which had any number of different kinds of fish and shellfish, and was served with great theatrics!
