Thanks to everyone on here for all the useful info it came in very handy!!!
We really enjoyed our 1st visit to PDC. To be honest we're not really big on Spain (love Greece) but we wanted somewhere close to the UK with decent weather and we were VERY pleasantly surprised with PDC........one of the best Spanish Resorts we've been to and we will return for sure :-)
We loved the Plaza Azul despite being allocated a room that didn't get an ounce of sun, but to be honest we only used it as a place to sleep, maybe if it hadn't been so windy we may have used the pool area but it was so blustery during our stay that we were happy to give it a wide berth. The location on the hill must've had something to do with just how windy it was because once we got down on the seafront it was a lot calmer.
We walked into the old town and had excellent tapas lunch at Sal y Pimiento (with very large measures of Pernod and Bacardi to wash it down) the views are lovely!! We did the walk to Puerto Calero (and back) and had a nice lunch at Taberna Del Puerto.
Loved just wandering up and down the strip in the sunshine and stopping off for lunch and drinks, Tequila Bar does a really nice lunch menu and you get a beer or wine included. Our absolute favourite afternoon chill out place was Dreams (by the casino). I read about it on TA (thanks to whoever posted about it). We spent two consecutive afternoons there and managed to get one of the comfy sofa's both times. Lovely staff and generous measures and there was a guy playing violin which was lovely.....really recommend this place!!! We liked it so much that we ate there one evening, I have to say the food was brilliant. We had the fixed menu of Middle Eastern food which was gorgeous and at 19 Euros per head very good value and worth a try if you want something different. Beautiful surroundings, excellent service and a sexy belly dancer for the boys!!!
Had a few hours on the beach for a couple of days which was very quiet and relaxing, 12 Euros for two beds and one umbrella.
Evening time we ate at Universo, Sorento, O'Reilly's amongst others but the best food was on our last night at Nico's......make sure you book, we did thankfully, people were queuing outside when we got there at 7.45. Really good value for money and fantastic portions.....even the sangria was large, glasses like fishbowls!!!
We loved the live music on the strip, got to see some good bands in O'Reilly's and an excellent female vocalist/guitarist in Africa.
All in all a very good 5 night stay, couldn't fault anything to be honest, lovely people, cheap food and drink and plenty going on, safe to say we'll give it a whirl again sometime.
