Any recommendations on good pub food?

Hi, we are going to Lanzarote for the first time next month. I have been browsing the excellent restaurant reviews but can anyone recommend where we could get some decent pub food from and what kind of prices would we be looking at. Are there places that do menu of the day deals? Any feedback will be much appreciated.

One of our favourites is Friends bar in the square in the new town past the Casino heading towards Matagorda. They do the usual fish and chips, steak and chips, steak and ale pie with puff pastry etc., all at competitive prices. We don't normally do the Sunday lunch on holiday but tried it here and it was superb.

Highly recommend Friends bar...had best ever Omelette there and also the Londoner I think its called which is next door. They do 'specials' according to what ever day it is (can find on their menu so can always plan ahead if need be lol)

Im pretty sure u will be spoilt for choice to be honest

The New Londoner is a fab chippy, next to Friends and Arthurs in the Square behind the Dubliner. Sometimes you just want a proper fish supper with bread and butter and a mug of tea after a day on the beach :-)

spinnaker bar has amazing food, run by an irish family, breakfasts are soooo good, little bit dearer but massive and the other meals are outstanding too.

The Auld Triangle does amazing pub food, very good quality and reasonably priced. Since I've been over last they've introduced a carvery which by all accounts is doing very well and receiving good reviews. I am looking forward to trying it in October :-)

If you want something a bit more "upmarket" try Casa Cabana in the old town. English owned and very good food - usually a good idea to book as it gets very full, unless you go early.

To be fair if you want good pub food you are best off staying in the UK!!!

OK this is slightly tongue in cheek but yes there are plenty of places in Lanza that will do a roast or some sort of carvery but frankly the quality of the produce is an insult unless you actually like deep frozen spuds, yorkshires and shoe leather drowning in bisto.

I guess it depends what you call pub food and what you are used to a home!

Can people not just choose to eat what they want on holidays? I went for a Sunday roast on holidays last year and got slated by a friend on Facebook. What business was it of hers or anybody else's what I ate on holidays???????

To be honest when I go on holidays we mix it up, fine dining, pub grub, takeaways. But it really grinds me when I see people being so judgmental about what others eat on holidays. To my own annoyance, I'm a very fussy eater, so don't eat Spanish fayre, but it doesn't make me any less a worthy tourist than those who are scoffing tapas and paellas by the plate full!!!
