How to make the most of our holiday

Hi. Can anyone recommend the best places to visit.. trips, eating out (best cocktails) etc whilst we are there. Going on 1st September. Super excited. Defo want to go to the Island Bar after reading reviews. We are a couple of 33 and 42years of age. We are self catering as want to make the most of the island. Would appreciate any advice. Cheers, Lou

Hiya theres loads to do but depends on what your looking for, theres water parks in playa blanca and costa teguise if u feel like being a kid again lol theres scuba diving, jet skis, catamaran trips, dinner shows, a submarine, not forgetting going up the volcanos and haveing your food cooked over the volcano heat, ferries to other island including fuerteventura, as for restaurants i couldnt begin to list the good ones as theres hundreds u wont find a bad meal, my favorates are la brasa, and tarratoria amongst others but the american indian is great aswel and has bands on after u eat, try cafe ola next to the casino even if its just for drinks its the most beautiful setting for a bar/restaurant on the island it has a pool inside it and four poster chill out beds looking over the sea while u have drinks, it also has a nightly show of things like flamenco dancers, best cocktails can be found in the tequila lounge, il shut up now and let other people give u some tips! Sorry but i love pdc :) have a great time x

Hi We ate in La Cascada in the Old Town a few times and the food was lovely. For Tapas we thought Restaurante Canada was great. You will have a great time.

Where are you staying and what sort of thing would you like to do?

Some of my favourites are the Catlanza catamaran cruise, it leaves from Puerto Calero which is beautiful, it sails to Papagayo beach (beautiful white sand beach) and anchors for some snorkelling/jetskiing and lunch.

Rancho Texas - is a great day out - seeing all the animals including the shows of sea lions, parrots and birds of prey. There is also a nice pool area and a few water slides. They have evening shows which look fun but I am yet to get to one.

Mirador del Rio in the north of the island, it looks out over La Graciosa island- I would love to take the boat across sometime.

Teguise market is quite good if you like markets/shopping or if you want to see a quiet traditional village then go to Teguise on a weekday for some tapas. It is so quiet and peaceful.

I also went scuba diving in January for the first time and after being quite scared and it was amazing once I got the hang of breathing under water. If that is something you are interested in then I recommend Manta Diving Lanzarote.

There is also the volcano which is a must do when in Lanzarote. I've been coming to PDC for 13 years and been around 20 times but only visited the volcano in January this year. I'm glad I done it but it did scare me because the camels leg kept collapsing while we were on it then the bus around the volcano scared me because of the heights and narrow roads.

The weather will be hot and sunny - like most of the year. It can get breezy but normally it is welcome - a light cardigan would be enough for the evening if it is needed.

Feel free to ask if there is anything specific you want to know about.

Its' a matter of choice, Lou8080. We all have our preferences and therefore recommendations. It remains fantastic to get advice on food, drink and things to do; however, the best thing about Lanzarote is findings things for yourselves. We arrived for the first time in 2001 and still discovering the island.

You have to return time and time again to realise what the island has to offer.

I will recommend one tour if you are only staying for a week; the north tour. If you are staying longer, take in the volcano tour as well.

You didn't mention where you are staying or what nightlife you seek...one place has to be the Island Bar.

Get there early, 9.30ish to get a seat.

Teguise market is on a Sunday...one early bus or a pricey taxi. Arricfe good for shopping; viist early because of siesta; bus is regular.

There is loads to do but as I have said, it is worth returning so don't 'crush' all into a short stay. Enjoy the sun and nightlife at your leisure.

Enjoy
