Staying at Dream Gran Tacande - do we need to rent a car?

We are staying 3.5 days, should we rent a car, or is it better just to use taxis?

Depends what you are wanting to do or see but if it is just to get to and from the airport take a taxi, there is plenty to fill 3 days just wandering around the area where the hotel is situated.

This is the hotel we normally aim to stay in. It's on the edge of Costa Adeje and bordering Del Duque therefore in a good upmarket position and seafront too. We've never hired a car but have just walked and used buses. I suppose it depends on how far you intend to sightsee because if you're aiming to visit the north of the island then for convenience a hire car may be useful.

For 3.5 days there is more than enough to occupy you in the south of the island. You can walk from the hotel all along the seafront right through PDLA and into Los Cristianos and catch a bus back for a couple of euros.

Thanks for the quick replies. Just booked it now, we leave tomorrow morning!

I think will leave it, last time we went to Tenerife (April 2007) we did rent a car but we didn't particularly go anywhere, just a short drive along the coast and to and from the airport plus the water park.

As long as there are food choices within walking distance of the hotel we're fine, can't be doing with being held captive and not being able to find outside food easily.

There are several places to eat close to the hotel. There is a shopping centre close by that offers snacks too.

Or if you walk along the seafront back towards PDLA you will come to Puerto Colon and there are loads to choose from. I would say it's around 15-20 minutes to get to this point depending on your walking speed but you will see others on your way.

Have a wonderful time. It's a lovely hotel with excellent service and good food.

We stayed quite close to where you are staying and hired bikes from our hotel. This is a good way of covering more of the area more quickly.
