paxos , antipaxos day trips

we are 4 families consisting of 7 adults and 8 children and would like to go for a trip to paxos and anti paxos caves , but would prefer to hire a boat than go with the scheduled ones. Will there be boats that can hold all of us together? or we can hire two boats. and any one knows the price of the trip? We would also like to visit the shipwreck.,

Hi There, I think the only way you can hire a boat is to charter one. There are sea taxi's but they're just that - taxis'.

You could do it via hydrofoil which is how people get to Paxos who are staying there then rent a couple of motor boats in Gaios to get over to Anti Paxos. I've not heard of any shipwrecks in Corfu, Paxos or Anti Paxos, are you think of shipwreck cove in Zante?

If you do get over there make sure you've all got sea shoes and snorkel's, sea shoes are a must for the beaches as all but a couple on AP are pebbly, snorkel's are up to you but it's really great snorkelling over there.

Here's a particularly helpful link from a TA regular

There are trips from Corfu Town that go to Parga on the mainland (beautiful place) and then on to Paxos. About two hours to Parga and then maybe 30 minutes across to Paxos. They tend to stay for long enough to eat, drink and wander around and then back to Corfu. There is also a trip that does Anti Paxos instead of Parga. This takes about the same time.

These trips cost about €28 if booked direct from one of the local travel agents and not from Thomson, Thomas Cook etc.

If you want a day on Paxos, rather than a day on a boat with a couple of hours on Paxos, you need to get one of the three scheduled ferries that leave from Corfu Town. Timetables here - paxos-thalassatravel.com/web/index.php/art/0… Depending whether you get the hydrofoil or the slow boat, it takes between 55 minutes and 2 hours and costs about 20 euros pp each way. The sea taxis normally only take up to 10 people and cost around 300 euros each way. There are various trip boats on Paxos offering trips around the caves and to Anti Paxos, but these are mainly full day trips, so not really suitable if you are only on a day trip from Corfu in the first place.

With so many people and so little time, I would either forget Anti Paxos and just have a day on Paxos via hydrofoil, or go for one of the organised excursions that give you a brief glimpse of what Paxos and Anti Paxos have to offer and perhaps spend a while longer there to explore them in more depth next time :)
