Day trip

My husband, two kids aged 14 and 12 and I are coming to Brisbane in Jan 09 and want to visit Moreton Island. We don't have the time to stay at the resort - min 4 nights and we could only spare 1.

We specifically want to snorkel the wrecks. Does anyone know of a tour that primarily does snorkeling. If we go on the Tangwalooma tour, it is only for half a day and it doesn't mention being able to snorkel. We don't particularly want to feed the dolphins which allows you to stay longer. Are the wrecks owned by Tangwalooma resort? Are there any other private tours available?

1. Re: Day trip

Try Googling "Moreton Island day trip" and see what comes up. There are other tour operators so you won't necessarily have to go through the resort.

Tangalooma Resort doesn't own the wrecks. Anyone is free to swim out and snorkel around them. There is a very strong sweep from the changing tides in this particular spot though so it can make the swim challenging at times.

You also need to be aware that the wrecks were placed there to provide safe mooring for boats, and there are always lots and lots of boats around the wrecks (particularly on weekends).
