Buses & Excursions from Jandia

I am visiting Fuerteventura in April staying in the Riu Palace Jandia.

How frequent are the buses from Jandia to Costa Calma and is the bus stop close to the hotel?

Can we walk to Morro Jable from Jandia and if so how long is the walk?

Do you recommend any good island tours / excursions from Jandia?

If you have any additional tips about the hotel or resort, grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Welshtraveller

Jandia refers to the whole of the Southern end of the Island Your hotel is on the edge of the old town of Morro Jable to the North there is the newer resort area which most people refer to as Jandia. you can just walk from one to the other. Morro Jable is more hilly than the main drag in Jandia. The beach is the best place to walk you could walk all the way to Costa Calma from one great beach to another about 14 miles and get the bus back.

There are some good boating trips from Morro Jable harbour my advice would also be to hire a car and do some touring. There is lots of info and links to photos of the area on my website.

In response to the original question about buses, you'll find the timetable at

www.maxoratabus.com/tiadhe/rutas/05.htm

I'm not sure where the nearest bus stop is, but it won't be very far from the Riu Palace.

I've just remembered that service 1 between Rosario and Morro Jable also stops at Costa Calma, giving a frequency of about one bus every 30 minutes at peak times - see 01.htm as well as 05.htm; the southbound buses on this route will normally leave Costa Calma about 70-75 minutes after leaving Rosario.
