great review!

Thanks for posting, that is exactly what I've heard from many people I've met. Too bad the service is not better because the hotel is nice.

Did you go to the other part - Viva Palace - too? Some guest said that side was little bit better then Viva Beach.

Since you are going back to Punta Cana I guess we won't meet that soon :)

Happy travel

I totally think that the Palace is better than the Beach. I have a couple of small beefs about the Palace, but though I think they should do a better job, sometimes it's situational or a miscommunication or something like that. I would be hard-pressed to get a room at the Beach when the Palace is right there and for such a small price difference. I use the beach at the Beach and like accessing the property through the door at the Beach on occasion, but when people ask, I say the Palace is preferable.

Good review:

While I was at Dreams LR, about Feb 16th I met a woman from New York who had booked an upgraded suite at Viva Palace. When she got there at 2pm, she was told they had no reservation (even though she prepaid) for her and no other rooms. While I'm only hearing one side of the story, she told me in no uncertain terms that the reception staff and management were rude and absolutely did nothing to assist. By 6pm, with the assistance of her agent in New York, she was booked into a preferred suite at Dreams LR, but could only get 3 days since Dreams was full also. I referred her to Jesus Mercedes, the Head Conceirge who responded kindly and said he would do his best to direct any cancellations to her. Two days later she found out she could finish her stay at Dreams. She was really enjoying her visit at Dreams and vowed she would never darken the doors of Viva.

In all respects, there's really no comparison between Dreams and the Viva. Dreams will do all things better, especially when it comes to upgrades and VIP status...but you do have to pay for it. I booked the Viva because I couldn't afford Dreams at this time. I look forward to running back to Dreams for my next vacation!!
