I've decided it's time to venture beyond the North Coast for my annual birthday trip to DR .... So, I'll be making my first visit to Bayahibe in two weeks. And wouldn't ya know it? I've got questions!!
I'll be arriving into Santiago's airport at 1:30am. From there I'll take a 6:00am bus to Santo Domingo and (from reading the forums) I'll have to get to a park in order to take another 2 hour bus ride to LaRomana? From there, I'm 'lost' ... How do I get from LR to Bayahibe? Private taxi? Another bus? If a bus is the option, a website or additional information would be greatly appreciated. Or alternatively, if someone has a reliable driver (for transport to/from SDQ) that would work as well.
Secondly, I'd like to venture to Altos de Chevon in LR. I assume I can arrange a visit on my own? Then I'd like to travel to Dominicus for relaxation in the 'piscina natural' and tour Saona Island. Is my understanding correct that there are regularly scheduled chartered boats which depart from (or near) the resorts?
And last, but certainly not least ... I'm the 'party with the locals, salsa-dancin', Presidente-drinkin' boogie 'til the roosters start to crow' type of tourist. Will I be bored? Someone suggested I try the Urban Disco in LaRomana. Check! Still, I'd love to hear additional spots for partying and local restaurant options.
Gracias in advance for any assistance anyone can provide...
