IB Grand paraiso

Hello,

I read in one of the reviews that you can even borrow some floaties to play in the pool at the towel shack. And also sunscreen.

Is that true?

Is that sunscreen OK?

And also:

Is the room service quick?

If you order breakfast, will it be there in half an hour and is it still hot?

We were at the IB beach a couple of years ago, ordered in from room service, but recieved cold food.

Thanks!

Fie

Most times there are floats available . But if you bring a cheap inflatible fromhome they will gladly inflate it for you. As far as sunscreen yes there is some but best again to bring your own . Then if you run out you can always use some from the towel hut. Considering sunscreen should be applied often. In every room there is a placard with the Breakfast menu. Just fill it out with your items choosen and time of delivery you would like and hang on outside door knob evening before. Thats pretty much how I recall it is done.

The Grand does not buy sunscreen or floats for the towel hut...they just give out what guests leave behind. So sometimes they have sunscreen, sometimes they don't. We found floats to be very hit or miss. They ask that you use them and bring them right back when you are done using them so others can as well, but many we saw would use the float for 30 minutes and then get out of the pool, and instead of taking it back, they'd hoard it at their chair for the next several hours until they wanted to use it next (and, no, most were not amenable to letting you have it for thirty minutes). So if you want a float, I'd bring one. I'd also bring sunscreen since you won't know if they'll have it daily (or even if they'll have the right strength).

We found room service to be hit or miss. To order breakfast for a specific time, I'd do it on the card that you put out the night before. That way you don't have to worry about timing. You don't have to just order what's on the card; we were told we could write down anything breakfast or all day from the room service menu and it would be fine. Some of the food was hot...some of it was not. I found that I preferred the selection and warmth of the buffet (since you can be eating within 30 seconds of taking something off the line). We had much better luck with room service in the afternoons & evenings. We had a couple of club sandwiches & fries that came very warm...and several desserts that were at the right temp.

Mrs. Kruse -

The Grand does buy floats - they have floats with the IB* logo printed on them :)

I'd bring your own float and own sunscreen. If they don't have what you need it is very expensive to buy from the stores.

We've been to the Grand 3 times and never had any complaints about the room service. We've ordered breakfast by putting the card out and just calling. When we have ordered it by putting the card out they give a 1/2 window to deliver it and it's always been delivered at the beginning of the window.

Sometimes they have gotten confused with what we ordered, but it resulted in them bringing us extra food.

Can't answer about the floats, the extra sunscreen was what people had left. That's what they told me. I ran out one yr and bought very expensive, expired sunscreen. Didn't know it was expired. The room service for our b-fast was great. We put out the menu the night before and I did write in a few extra items not on the menu.

Good to know on the floats...is that new? We didn't see any IB logoed mats...they were all random neon colors.
