items left in car trunk

Haven't heard of any mishaps about leaving personal items in a rented car.

Any input on this topic

Are you asking about thefts from the trunk while parked around town etc?

I've heard several stories of items being stolen from a trunk...don't keep anything of value in the vehicle.

Thanks again. With all of the planning, I should have asked that question.

Can you refer a reputable rental company? And thanks ahead of time.

My guess of items stolen from a trunk:

.00001 %

My guess of how many of those people post & complain on TripAdvisor:

89.25%

There are so many cars out there. Just use good judgement. Don't leave the doors unlocked or windows down. Don't worry. Just behave like you would at home if you parked at a shopping mall.

We've used Thrifty, Dollar, Alamo, and two weeks ago tried BlueWay for the first time. All are fine. Get a letter from your credit card for CDW insurance waiver coverage, buy their mandatory $12-13/day Mexican government liability coverage, decline everything else, make them show you $0 for all other charges on the contract before signing, charge it to your credit card, make sure you take pics of every angle of the car at pickup, try all the accessories (AC, wipers, washer fluid, turn signals, etc), and enjoy the freedom. You'll hear fear mongers reply. It's very easy, don't be spooked by those who don't know (or own a transportation company in the area and spam this board!).

Enjoy the freedom,

Myself, I don't worry and buy the extra insurance down there with zero ded. collision

Remember, if they find any damage not on the pre-trip inspection, you must pay in cash/credit card, then try to get re-imbursed by your credit card

ISIS and America/Caribbean quote you all the insurance up front

All rental cars are a marked target. Do you know what the mark is? Tip: no, it's not a rental car sticker.
