Cordial Mogan Playa - almost ready to book!

We booked our flights with Ryanair ages ago and are now waiting for some deals on half board accomodation in GC for the first week of November.

We stayed at Iberostar Costa Canaria in San Augustin a couple of years ago (August) and at Lopesan Costa Meloneras in June 2007 (much better than the Iberostar - but obviously cost more money). After reading the reviews, the Cordial Mogan Playa is the current favorite but seems to be a little bit far from the beach. Anybody help on how far a walk it is? or are there other 'after breakfast' walk opportunities?

Also, we usually manage to book 5 or 6 weeks prior to going on holiday, but the rates for November don't seem to be moving at the moment - not just the Cordail Mogan Playa, but Lopesan and Riu sites also........ any ideas why this would be, or do the hotels usually get fairly full in November without the need to offer deals?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Scandinavian season starts in G.C. at the beginning of November, with the influx of visitors for the winter from, Norway,Finland, Sweden etc. many of the bars/hotels in the bigger resorts flip signs, menus staff etc almost over night from english(Easter to October season) to Scandi based (November to April).Lots of accomodation is booked out by their tour companies Wing, Tui, from year to year.

If you go out of the back gate of the Cordial Mogan, the beach is about a five minute stroll away :o)

Thanks for the Monarch link... best price so far :)

However, we're flying out on 31st Oct and returning 7th Nov - the previous week price is 20% (£200) less than 'our' week; just wondering when/if the price will move down a little for us.

Thanks for the back-gate tip, it's sort of traditional for us to walk the beach after breakfast.

Hi LindenH

When we stayed at Cordial we used to go for a walk down to the harbour after breakfast. Take some crusts of bread to feed the fish!

The sun should have come out nicely upon your return.

I hope you have a very happy holiday ;o)

Hi fussy57

In general it's a bad idea to feed fish bread because it can cause problems for some types of fish, and possibly kill them.

Well, we're all set ready to go - thanks to all you guys for the info and advice. I've been doing searches for other stuff and reading the responses to save the same questions being asked/answered.

We booked with travelrepublic in the end, they were slightly better on price and we've used them before. Upon several recommendations here on tripadvisor, we've organized airport transfers with canarytransferservice.com

One final question that I couldn't find an answer for - an ideas which would be the better room postions (pool view, etc)?

Twenty-one more sleeps and we're 'on holiday' :)

We stayed in room number 7321. Fantastic view towards the sea, the resort, the garden, and the pool.

Enjoy your stay!

We stay in room 4306 when we book which is situated overlooking the pool and bar nr reception. We enjoy this room as we like to listen to the outdoor music, piano or saxaphone when having a drink before our evening meal plus this room does not have direct sun which suits me as i like to cool off on terrace when being in the sun all day.

Hope you have great holiday.
