Cabin bags only.......

As we're only going for a week, we are hoping to fit everything into 2 small suitcases so we can scoot straight out of the airport (s). Have checked that Ryanair allow 10kg and our bags comply with their dimensions.

How strict are they around the 10kg, and will they weigh the bags ?

And if we are struggling to keep under 10 kg, will it be easy enough to pick up a couple of cheap 'beach' towels in a supermarket ?

God forbid that my wife might have to take less than 10 pairs of shoes with her....................

The authorities in Las Palmas (on your way home) are very strict on the weight of luggage. We were 4 adults, clearly all together, and had to unpack the heaviest and repack to the lightest in the airport on check-in, MArch 2010. The fines are more than the new towels.

Very strict! Your bags will be weighed and go a gram over your 10kg and Ryanair will charge.

My daughter went to Mallorca for the weekend on the return journey they had to put their hand luggage into the Ryan air measuring rack and found it had been made smaller than the one at Liverpool by adding tape to the top of it ,they made quite a bit of money out of unsuspecting travelers on that flight ..Disgraceful..

you can get beach towels from around 3/4 euros each in the shops and supermarkets there ,good enough for the beach and cheap enough to leave behind .

Saw last week on a trip to/from the Canaries that Ryanair have started to weigh bags as you board the plane ,many of those who had shopped in the duty free shops were having to decide wether to pay the extra baggage or leave things behind .If you buy spirits from the duty free plus pay the excess its not much cheaper than that at home imo

I did see something about only being allowed one bag, including any 'air-side' purchases, but thought it would be easy enough to slip a couple of books/the wifes newly purchased cosmetics etc into the hand luggage, but hadn't thought about them weighing the bags AGAIN ! Sneaky so and so's - will have to be careful then.............
