Macau Buses

We are seeking advice on what number buses to use to get us around Macau for a day.

We will arrive by ferry from Hong Kong and want to go to the airport to store our luggage.

We then want to go to Senado Square and spend a couple of hours in this area.

After that we want to go to the Macau Tower (is it worth it?).

From here we plan to go to Taipa village for a stroll around and dinner, then to The Venetian and from The Venetian to the airport to catch a 10.35pm flight.

Also do we need to have the corrct change to pay for the bus?

Yes, you will need correct change for Macau buses, but you can use Hong Kong money instead of patacas if you wish, and it's no problem for one member of the party to pay for everyone in the group. And of course the bus driver won't have a problem if you put say, $3.50 in the coin box for a $3.20 fare. Just be aware that for some obscure reason Macau people only accept HK$10 notes, not $10 coins, although all other coins and notes are fine.

From the ferry pier to the airport, catch the AP1.

From the airport to Senado square there isn't a direct bus, but the AP1 stops by the Lisboa, which is 10 minutes or less walk away. If it's fine weather (the only time it's worth visiting the Tower), you could catch a 26 there from the airport, then catch an 18 from the tower to Senado Square (alight at the first stop after the bus turns left into a narrow one-way street from the main road (Av. Almeida Ribeiro).

From Senado Square I think the 11 and 33 are the most frequent buses to Taipa village.

It's about a 15 minute walk between Taipa and the Venetian, but after dark I would want to be carrying a torch to help you see any bumps or potholes.

There's a free shuttle from the Venetian to the airport.
