Need your Advise- 4days/3nights Macau Trip

Hello everyone! My family and I are very excited to our upcoming Macau trip. Would really appreciate you help in adding some more things to do, places we shouldn't miss...There are 6 of us, 2 kids, 2 senior citizens, and me and my husband. We will be staying at the Venetian Hotel. Here is our itinerary.

May 16-Friday---- Arriving Macau at 3:40pm, we will take the hotel shuttle to hotel.

Checkin, stroll around the Venetian, maybe Gondola ride? Then have dinner somewhere in the area.

May 17-Saturday--- 10am Pre-arranged city-tour with lunch, pickup is at 10am, tour A-ma temple, Ruins of St. paul church, Macau tower, Native store, City of Dreams, city square, Venetian ( that's what it says in the tour voucher, the travel agency gave us).

5PM - House of Dancing Water show

7pm- dinner ......( stroll area, any specific place , attractions we should go so as not to waste time?)

May 18- Sunday ---- morning---really have no idea here...

After lunch--- maybe go to the Macau area(?) my kids wanted to see the the michael Jackson museum at Sofitel

---- late afternoon, early evening go to Wynn hotel for the water fountain show and the Tree of prosperity.

May 19--- 4:30pm flight back home, leaving the hotel after lunch. Morning we can do last min shopping maybe after hotel breakfast.

My itinerary definitely has a lot of room on the third day. So pls feel free to add. By the way, do people really smoke anywhere in Macau? Four of us are asthmatic, so i am just concerned. We have been to art/science museums in singapore and Mind museum in manila, is the museum here much different? I have heard of the gold/jade display or collections of a certain hotel, i am not sure where. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi,

on the first day, could take a slow evening stroll over to Taipa village.

Then on the day that you are free-can go to Coloane, and visit Coloane village, have meal there, Hac Sac Beach "picnic" after take away of Lord Stow's egg tart and cakes, Giant Panda Pavilion.

Also the science centre.

As you mentioned the kids wants to see MJ museum in Sofitel @16, you can take the Venetian shuttle bus to Inner Harbour Pier(Yuet Thong pier-pier14),or if you are in Coloane, can also take bus route 26 that goes here.

Might be interested in the Macau Science Centre or the 3D/4D movies they have there. See link.

Smoking is only in the casino in designated smoking areas. As asthmatics you may have a problem with the smog though. We were in Macau last week and the smog was awful.

Thanks so much for the heads up @Rachel J. We will just prepare our much needed masks and other maintenance meds and sprays in case my companions need them, which i hope won't. :-)

Hi guys,

Our trip is this Friday already and I have updated our itinerary. I would very much appreciate it if you can check and answer some additional questions. Thanks in advance for taking time.... :-)

Friday, May 16- 5pm--- Taipa Village

. Is it really near our hotel by walking with with kids or do you suggest we take taxi or is there a bus going to Taipa village and back to Venetian Hotel? Do you suggest we take the Gondola ride when we get back to the Venetian or is it better in the morning or early afternoon?

Saturday may 17-- morning city tour and HODW at 5pm.

By the time we end e show at 6:30, we plan to check out the vquarium. Where do we see the memorabilias of musicians (?), guitars, etc? ... Check out Dragons Treasure also.

How do we go to Galaxy hotel ? Someone told us their lobby is nice with an ice palace design (?h is there a free bus going back to the venetian hotel? Where do you suggest we have dinner, at the City of dreams of the venetian foodcourt?

Sunday May18--- from the hotel, how do we get to the macau peninsula? We plan to check these places accordingly.... museum of Art, science center, Michael Jackson gallery at ponte 16, brand prix museum, MGM, Wynn then back to Venetian.... How to get from place to place? Free shuttles? Taxi? Is going back to venetian easy at night? Is it true that minors are not allowed in the bus? I find this strange but i would like to confirm with you guys...

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.... Sorry this is long...

>>>. Is it really near our hotel (Venetian)<<<

Yes, it is a 12-15 minute walk. Venetian has even built a bridge and covered walkway for much of the distance so you don't have to worry so much about being directly out in the sun.

>>>Do you suggest we take the Gondola ride when we get back to the Venetian or is it better in the morning or early afternoon?<<<<

Completely up to you. I don't feel like there is a preferred time to do this activity, just take the canal ride when you are ready. Bare in mind that there will be a million mainland Chinese tourists there during the late morning until around 4.30-5pm. They will be watching you as you pass below in the canal. It is much quieter in the evenings if you prefer to not be the subject of many others photographs. ;-)

>>>Saturday may 17 -Where do we see the memorabilias of musicians (?), guitars, etc? <<<<

Are you referring to the Hard Rock Cafe at COD? Easy, just follow the signs, there is an escalator up to the restaurant and a second floor casino area where you can find the restaurants and the musician paraphilia.

>>>Where do you suggest we have dinner, at the City of dreams of the venetian foodcourt?<<<

Neither. I would dine at a local restaurant in Taipa village, Coloane village or Hac Se beach area restaurants.

>>>How do we go to Galaxy hotel ? Someone told us their lobby is nice with an ice palace design<<<<

Some consider it nice, some say its tacky! See pictures on this link and decide for yourself it is worth making the journey to see.

There is frequent free shuttle service between the Venetian and Galaxy.

>>>Sunday May18--- from the hotel, how do we get to the macau peninsula? <<<

There are bus routes that can get you to the area near Senado Square. However, I'd take a taxi, it will save you a load of time and isn't very expensive in Macau.

>>>We plan to check these places accordingly.... museum of Art, science center, Michael Jackson gallery at ponte 16, brand prix museum, MGM, Wynn then back to Venetian.... How to get from place to place?<<<

You are going to need to look at a map for this one. You've chosen destinations that are spread out all over the Peninsula. As such, walking will not really be much of an option. Taxi between most will be your best option.

>>>>Is going back to venetian easy at night?<<<<

Of course. Taxi service is 24/7 in Macau like anywhere else.

>>>Is it true that minors are not allowed in the bus?<<<<

What? Why would minors not be allowed to ride buses? In fact, students receive concessionary bus fares in Macau, just like elderly passengers.

Walking takes about 15 minutes or so, depending on which corner of The Venetian you start. If you take taxi you need 2 taxis for the 6 of you. No bus go directly on this route. Shuttle bus goes from Galaxy to Taipa I think.

>> Do you suggest we take the Gondola ride when we get back to the Venetian or is it better in the morning or early afternoon? <<

Are you doing the indoor gondola or outdoor gondola? Indoor gondola (Grand Canal) - can do any time. Outdoor one... I am not sure of their operating hours. May be do so when the outside temperature is not overly hot or sun is overly strong? (If that makes any sense...)

These places are a bit scattered. You need to understand what "free" shuttles are for. They are for bringing guests to casinos, not for them to do sight-seeing.

Based on what you penciled down, I would suggest this:

- From The Venetian, take the free shuttle to Yuet Tung Pier. You are pretty much right there at Ponte 16.

- Afterwards: 2 taxis or walk (about 15 min) to Wynn.

- Afterwards: walk to MGM Hotel (next door)

- Afterwards: walk to Museum of Art (about 300 to 400 meters)

- Museum of Art and Science Museum... same place, across the street

- Afterwards: walk to Grand Prix Museum (about 700 meters or so)... and you might as well walk through the Fisherman's Wharf to take a look enroute (if not done on Saturday already).

- Afterwards: walk back to Sands Hotel from Grand Prix Museum (300 meters). From Sands, take free shuttle back to The Venetian.
