There are buses to Lerici, but I think it is unlikely there is any frequent transport beyond there. You will need a car to get around in any case.

You can find the Tellaro bus schedule OK using the link posted by Mike M - but for additional information, it's on page 123 of atcesercizio.it/images/…invernale.pdf

There is also a boat service from Tellaro to Bocca di Magra and to Lerici in June, but times for these boats are not currently online as they have stopped for the winter.

Too bad the post with the La Spezia area bus info was taken down, I found it useful. Does TA think the poster runs a bus company?

Someone seems to have mistakenly thought it was self-promotion. If you Google: Getting Around La Spezia, it comes up first.

How much "getting around" will you need/want to do? If you are fine with staying put for a few days, Tellaro would be a grand place to stay. It has restaurants. There are also hiking trails, but with the bus and possible ferries as an option and not a necessity, I'd say go for it.
