Gaudi Center

Address: Plaza del Mercadal

Web: http://www.gaudicentre.com/eng/index.html

The Gaudi Center explains the life of Antoni Gaudi. Gaudi was born in Reus on June 25, 1852. His parents belonged to the working class. However Gaudi through his effort and genius became one of Spain’s most famous architects. He went to work in Barcelona and created many famous buildings and houses there. His most famous work was the Sagrada Familia Church, which is one of the most visited monuments in Spain. In 2010 it was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI. This center has a space of 1200 square meters to explain the work of Gaudi. There is a 360 degree audiovisual show also. It is the only interpretative center in Spain that explains the work of Gaudi.

Hi Benny,

Many thanks for sharing this useful information! Gigi and I are big fans of Gaudi and the Moderniste architects. Maybe we'll plan a visit to Reus soon.

Here's a link to a wiki article that lists some of the beautiful Moderniste buildings that one can see in Reus. None by Gaudi! I can't get my computer to create a custom Google map but if I could, I would drop a marker for all the buildings listed.

It's a bit far for you to go but maybe you would like to meet Gigi and me for a meal at the Fonda Emilio in Les Borges del Camp?

@ Jose,

Those are wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing! Have a great exploration this coming week.

@Alan,

This is funny. I'm planning a day trip to Reus and you went on a day trip to Barcelona! JoseAntonio's online photo albums include many fantastic shots of Barcelona's treasures, especially the newly-renovated Palau Guell. Hope we both get to visit this beautiful area soon.

Hola Jose Antonio!

I hope you have a good time in Falset. Unfortunately, the Fonda Emilio has closed its doors forever, after more than 100 years in business. A sign of the times? :-( I will have to eat at the restaurant in the Gaudi centre.
