Change money here in the UK or in Pefkos?

Any preference and why? To be honest, weve never even thought about it but the lady in Thomsons gave us a "best rate" ticket type thing if we exchange there.

Hi Scally,

You not gone yet! One of the best rates I've found so far is Tesco. I'm not going for 2 weeks but am thinking of getting most here and using my debit card if I need to. You will get a better rate out there but by the time you pay charges it works out about the same. The only thing I've been told is that if you buy currency in UK draw the cash from the bank as if you use your debit card you'll be charged?

Again, have a super time

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave, no still here, just! Leave on Wednesday lol.

Might give Tesco a look in then. Other half is taking his debit card (mine is staying home lol) and I think the plan is to go into the bank over there to withdraw cash if needs be.

You will be going when I come back so you too have a fabulous time

Hi Peppermilly,

The Post Office still don't charge but their exchange rates are not good. In 2008 they were the best you could get.

Cheers

The post office still do not charge when you order online (£500.00 minimum purchase) and you get a better rate online compared with visiting a post office branch.

If you use a debit card to purchase the currency online, your card provider may now charge a cash advance fee. This charge certainly applies to Visa debit cards which I believe is £4.50 fee.

And another...

http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/

Thing is, I always end up spending hours researching the best rates and best solutions etc for travel money, before I go on holiday, but is it actually worth it? I do it because I'm as tight as a knats a*se, but I might only end up saving myself £10 in every £1000. That's fine if every penny's a prisoner, but if you value your time too, is it worth spending hours agonising over it all?
