Condor Airline with T Cook

Booked first time to Pefkos through T Cook for September 2014. Airline is Condor.

Has anyone used this airline before and are they reliable?

We only booked a couple of weeks ago and already had e mail re change of flight times. Three hours later both out and back from Manchester.

Hey

Condor is a German based airline which ususally flies out of Frankfurt and the brand is part of the TC group. Its a well established carrier. Key 'Condor Airlines' into yr search engine and ' Skytrax' reviews should appear. A lot of v good reviews, some indifferent, a few poor. Think yourself lucky, at least TC dont stoop as low as Small Planet Airlines or Strategic as Olympic Holidays were happy to do. Should be ok.

Thomas Cook seem to be moving towards using the Condor brand for more of its flights. As FugeeBlues says it is just another bit of the Thomas Cook group, and it may simplify things to eventually have just one airline with just one management team instead of several within the group.

I did search before I booked or posted and they seemed ok.

I just wondered if anyone has had personal experience of them. Better flight times originally and the 3+ hour change, so soon, hasn't inspired confidence in them.

Don't think of them as a different airline. Its Thomas Cook Airlines with a different paint job and an office in Frankfurt!

All flight times on charter type airlines are very likely to change before the date of travel. The times printed in package holiday brochures or seen on package holiday websites for 2014 holidays are pure guesswork - they represent what the tour operator wanted to do at the time the programme was set up for the year, usually in the early part of one year for the summer of the next.

Right now they'll be looking at actual sales for 2013 and seeing what lessons to apply to the 2014 programme in terms of too much or not enough capacity, timings that didn't work and so on. They go back to the in-house airline and ask what changes can be made, or if an outside airline will need to be used.

Then the airlines apply for ATC slots to cross Europe and these will be allocated around February 2014. This provokes another set of changes for people who have already booked as the airlines won't get everything they have asked for at the exact time they want.

Finally as advance bookings flow in, or not, decisions are taken to add flights, cancel flights and move passengers onto others.

So what you see in the brochure may bear very little relation to what you get, as far as flights are concerned. It's a very British thing to want to book a year or more ahead. In other European countries people really only start booking in any numbers from January/February of the year they're travelling, so a lot of the inevitable flight changes have already happened before they decide on a holiday.
