Although its not as calm as the west coast , you won't have a problem on Dover Beach . The water is calmer near the lifeguard station , where there is always someone in attendance . It's a lovely beach .

I would say about 25 / 30 minutes to Dover and about 35 / 40 minutes to Worthing. It does depend on how fast or slow you walk.

Yes they are easy to find, head left out of Butterfly and after around 15 minutes you will see a sign for the Gap, just follow the road until you see a sports pitch on the right, facing that you will come across Dover. For Worthing you have to keep heading up and out of the Gap turn left , cross over a small brook on the left you will see a car park, go across it and that is Worthing.

If you were get on a bus heading towards Bridgetown , then get off at Divi Hotel . You can walk down through the grounds then cross the street onto Dover Beach . If you got off at the bus stop after Divi at the start of the gap and walked towards Bridgetown , past the road into the gap , Worthing beach is a couple of hundred yards further on .

When you say that swimming is best on the "left side", are you standing on the beach looking out or are you in the water looking toward the beach? We're staying at the White Sands and hoping it's on that side lol...

Yes the left hand side looking out to sea where all the huts are , where the yellow lifeguard station is . You can go directly on the beach from white sands at low tide .
