Turtle Trip?

We will shortly be making our third visit to Almond Beach Village and are considering a trip to see the turtles as we've not yet done this. Please can someone advise as to the cost and whether it's better to book this with the hotel concierge or one of the beach vendors? I'd be really grateful for any recommendations, thank you.

I would recommend you do a catamaran cruise with Cool Runnings which you can book yourself and this will enable you to spend a few hours with them, snorkel, have lunch and drinks all for $90 USD. They also pick you up from your hotel.

You could do the above.

You could book with a smaller venue Silver Moon and experience the same.

Better yet, you should go to Oisten's fish market, ask for some remnants (fish) and go to the back of the fence area, you will see people cleaning fish...and walk on the board way. You can dip in there and swim with the turtles. We should have done that on our first trip (2008). We were back in 2010 and will be back in 2012 for a month and will be doing this.

It depends on what you want. Silver Moon picked us up at our villa, dropped us off. We had a fantastic day, great, excursion, lunch, crew and or you can go the au naturel at Oistin's. The choice is yours! Enjoy....

I'd recommend doing a class bottom boat with the snorkel option with Michael and Shamon II.. They meet up at Folkstone/ Barbados Marine Park and either leave from there or from behind the Holetown Police Station.

8. Re: Turtle Trip?

the other option is to take a walk down the beach with your snorkel equipment and about 12pm when all the cat's are in the bay at paynes bay take a swim out...

it is the bay where the sands development is.

you wont miss the boats and it is only about 100m out.

however a good glass bottom boat you will then get refreshments and a chance to snorkel where the wreck is etc and be able to see more.

the other place to go and see the turtles is at oistins.

go late afternoon, 4ish onwards and go behind the fish market. ask someone that works there for some scraps and walk down the jetty and throw in the scraps and you will seee all the turtles you want. ok you won't get to swim with them but it is the best place to take pics.

it wont cost you anything either, although it is nice to tip the person that gets you the scraps...

then relax with a beer or two by the market...

We did this at Paynes Bay. We had all of our own snorkel equipment and swam out to the turtles ourselves. It was great and free!
