Hi all. What type of activities/excursions are there from Cayo Guillermo? Thanks.
Yes there is a causeway connecting the 2 islands,
Trips from here,
Speed boat safari, trip round mangroves in your own boat and snorkelling -
Catamaran, full or half days - go out to reef snorkel and then onto Pilar beach
Fishing, boat hire full or half days
Taxi up to Pilar Beach, from hotel
colourful Cuba - full day, go to lake for tour, onto steam train, lunch, croc farm then onto Moron (nearest town)
dolphins, not sure on details but i believe it is a 2 day trip
Havana, day or few day trips
There are more but I can not remember them all,
you absolutely must go to Pilar Beach...also there is a catamarand thing...kind of expensive but looked like fun...at pilar beach you can take a boat to the island $12 and go snorkeling...this apparently is well worth it....amazing snorkeling....the catamarand stops at this island as part of the excursion....
you can also rent scooters....etc....
In addition to those organised activities there's a tenpin bowling alley and a bank on Guillermo. On Cayo Coco, there's Parque Baga, which is a wildlife centre/heritage site, and a couple of beach restaurants that serve lobster, shrimp, drinks etc.
And that's pretty much it. The Cayos are in a zona turistica sealed from the rest of Cuba by a checkpoint on the bridge to the mainland. Such shops, entertainment, and medical facilities as there are are on-resort.
