Sol Cayo Guillermo

Hi there!

We are booked for the end of January to go to Sol Guillermo, we paid extra for the VIP standard ocean view, which is supposed to get us a hammock, lobster dinner, 7nights of reservations at ala carte...... just wondering if anyone else out there has booked that in the past, your experience and if indeed you did receive these extras?

Thanks!!

Lyssap,

never heard of that,

But you should be o.k. with the room up grade. The a la carte is not a big deal. It would be fine for a few nights but the Buffet at Dinner is a good night out !

Curious as to how much you paid for this upgrade.

I agree with deebob, the a la carte has maybe a choice of 3 or 4 meals and portion size is not great but the service is! We much prefer the main Buffet Restaurant, eat as much as you like when you like, from carvery, fish dishes, pastas, steaks, pork, salads and desserts, all for the AI price. Is that vip upgrade available to any nationality or is it another money collecting initiative by the management on an already slimmed down All Inclusive package?

HI there below is the"vip" package we purchased with our airline, West Jet Vacations;

This was an extra 350$ plus taxes per person for our 11day stay......

Seems a little pricey but, some of these features do come with a price. Example:

Late check out, at least 60cucs, Lobster dinner, 25cucs per person, mini fridge beer, soft drinks etc. would be purchased from the store. Might come with VIP lounge privileges at the airport . not sure,20cucs per person.

Hey if you got the coin and want to do it up, Go for it!

Sounds like a very special Vacation.

Have fun, Enjoy Cuba!

We'll be doing a 11 day visit with West Jet Vac. in April. Dee is going to have bring her own bath robe. lol

@ Lyssap5

I know you went in 2012 but we purchased the same package and are going in Jan 2014. Did you get everything in the VIP package? Any issues with having the upgraded room? Just curious as to which room/block you stayed in?

If anyone else has taken advantage of the VIP at Sol Cayo Guillermo - you can let me know how it worked out for you also!

Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra money until you get there. You might be totally satisfied with the room you have , and if not, ask for a change.

Not sure of what the price difference is for the upgrade, but the staff is more than willing to help if you have any issues. Depending on availability, of course.
