Beach at the Wellesley Resort

Can anyone advise what the beach is like at the Wellesley Resort? We are tossing up between the Wellesley and the Natadola Beach Resort for about 4 nights at Xmas, We have a week at Denerau but want to spend some time where there is a nice beach and snokeling at hand. We like the beach at the Shangri-la but are trying to keep costs down. Thanks

I have stayed at Wellesley Resort - it is very isolated and way off the main road. Nice accommodation, good food, clean, lovely lush gardens, nice pool, very quiet & secluded. There is a Fijian village (with a small shop) inbetween Wellesley & Crusoe's Retreat Resort. You can walk along the beach to Crusoe's. The beach is typical of the Coral Coast beaches - no comparison to the 'island' beaches with white powdery sand - it's okay. There is no Wellesley accommodation right on the beachfront. From memory you have to go to Crusoe's Retreat for diving & snorkelling excursions. I think that the beach at Natadola is much nicer, whiter sand and a bit of 'surf'. Close to the Intercontinental Hotel.
