Accommodation near the Divide and Milford Sound

Is there any other accommodation near the Divide besides Knobs Flat and near Milford sound besides Milford Sound Lodge? We are planning to get there in March, April.. Is prior booking necessary or usually one can find space upon arrival?

Are you talking about proper camping or a camper van? You cannot book DoC camp sites. Easter will be really busy but after Easter the tourist season winds down slowly. Although campervans are still around even into June, by April they are fewer in number.

If you are looking for a serviced camping ground, Gunns Camp in the Hollyford Valley is your only choice, about 10kms after the Divide & down the Hollyford Valley Road. If you are meaning a DOC camp the closest & last one before the Divide & Milford is Lake Gunn, it's very small and full of sandflies & sleeper vans from early afternoon. The next closest is Cascade Creek, this is a large site with many parking areas tucked into the bush along the edge of an open tussock plain. There is plenty of space for everybody even on the busy days.

You can see the size of the site here in my blog-

There are other posts archived on the right hand side where you can see a bit of Gunns and other parts of the Milford Road.
