Playa Cayo Santa Maria ; resort tips- help!

We're headed to PCSM for a romantic get away in late December.

1) Many folks recommend block 6 . We do like quiet, but want the best ocean view and close to the beach. #15 and #7 also look decent locations.

2) We also want to pre-book a dinner for Christmas Day. Which restaurant is the best for a romantic evening. Are any near/ on the beach ?

3) Any other tips on excursions, what to bring and expect would be great.

Thanks, there are not that many reviews or forums on this resort.

Ha! I guess you're right! Was hoping to catch the sunset, or at least year the waves. Someone mentioned there is a nice romantic restaurant. Which one was this ?

The romatic restaurant is called Romantico. But I think the name above the door was something like Giraldi. It was nice. Meal was good. Music was light. Service was excellent. Panda Roja- the asian restaurant was also very nice. All of the a la cartes are small, but we never felt crowded by the other guests dining. The seafood restaurant is overlooking the ocean, but you really don't get to see much because of how it is set up. At the time of year you are going, sunset will probably be around 6pm. Dinners don;t start seating until 7. If you want to enjoy a sunset, have a drink at the beach bar...beautiful views from there

Sounds great. The Che Mausoleum must have been so intresting!

I'm also interested in the open air bus, discos, market and dolphin swim.

the open air bus is great. sit on top floor and you get a glance at the other resorts as you pass by them. The fare is 1 cuc each way, but I think if you want to see the whole islandthey have a rate for that as well..wouldn't think it would be much more than 4 cuc. The ride from Playa to pueblo estrellas is not long and the ride back was much faster. Discos are at the pueblo. The entertainment staff went on Monday night with a group of people. The market is located in the pueblo as well. Found some interesting things there. But if you do the Santa Clara excursion, we hit some amazing deals at a little market in Remedios on the way back to the resort.
