dutyfree at airport?

Can anyone tell me if there's a duty free at the airport? What about price difference than at the resort?

There are two shops at the airport ithe departure lounge. I have been through that airport a few times and never noticed any difference between the prices there and the resorts. You are, however , better off buying cigars at the resort store or at the pueblos because they are stored better in walkin humidors. The cigars in shops at the airport are stored on regular shelves, the air conditioning and such is not good for the cigars. The alcohol selection is better at the airport.

Liquor prices are similar between airport and shops at pueblo/resort. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

I buy some at each. I pack one in our checked luggage - very carefully and one from the duty free in our carry-on. It really is more dependent upon how you want to pack your bottle.

Don't forget , if you buy Liquor at the hotel, you can not pack it in your carry-on anymore.. Has to be put in your check-in luggage... If you buy in duty free, then it can go in your carry-on ...

How late is the duty free open? Our flight leaves at 1.30am, and we probably won't arrive at the airport until 10.30pm/

Buy it at the airport duty free after the security check, then you don't need to worry about it breaking in your checked luggage because it can go in your carry-on

The duty free is open at least until 12:30 am. Left on a flight that time just recently and it showed no sign of closing. Perhaps they are timed around the flights since it is such a small airport.

Last year we got to the airport at 5:30am and they were open then. Also remember that anything you buy at the duty free doesn't go against your luggage weight allowance. It would be awful to buy cheap rum and then get soaked by the airline for overweight charges.

In regards to buying liquor after security in Cuba and packing it in your carry on. This is all well and good unless of course you have a connecting flight in Canada. You will NOT be able to get it through security in Canada in your carry on. It would have to be in your checked. Remember this ONLY aplies if you have a connecting flight.

Cheers
