Torres del Paine in August?

We tried to plan a trip to Patagonia in December, but alas, the timing just didn't work. Our family has another window in August. I've heard Torres del Paine is beautiful in winter with fewer people too. Does anyone have any experience visiting TdP in August? We live in the northwest corner of the US and spend a lot of time in the mountains in winter. The weather won't throw us. What about the other logistics that time of year? Hotels? Flights?

It is possible but takes a lot more planning and reading. Inside the park most of the refugios, mountain lodges, close for the winter and snow can limit where you can hike. Transport to the park is reduced, I think one bus a day. But the number of winter visitors grows every year and there are lots of personal tales on the internet.
