Top tips for young family

Hi, we're staying at the cordial apart hotel next week with a 4year old and 2 year old. Just wondered if anyone had any top tips? So many holidays we find the best bar, play area, route to the beach etc etc on the last day so just wondering if anyone had any pearls of wisdom?! We're staying for a week and would like a mix of pool, beach and day trips. Will have a hire car. Thanks in advance

We are going in July for the first time.and I have done a little research on the area. There is no beach in GDS and I think the one in Los Abrigos is rocky. Apparently, the nearest decent beaches would be in either El Medano or Los Cristianos. The San Blas commercial centre seems to be the place with the most bars and restaurants. I've heard that the "Wild Geese" is a good bar and that "Volcanic Islands" serves great food ( both of these are dotted around the resort. If you come across anywhere particularly nice, would you post it here? I would be very interested in your thoughts.

There is a restaurant in San Blas called 'La Opera' with a reasonable and extensive menu where they have a magician 2 or 3 nights a week. He comes round to the tables to do tricks and is a big hit with the youngsters, as he also makes balloon animals, balloon swords etc.

Hi,

Being with one of the local experts of Golf Del Sur, Restaurant recommendations : In San Blas, you have a lovely Tapas Place "Tapas Pato De Oro" it is brilliant, also their is a Indian restaurant up their on the corner [The Guy always stops you to try to go in] The food is brilliant , If you get the chance while on top square try to see Colin Stevens Performing he is really good!

Also Legends Bar which is down a bit by Golf Plaza, is a really chilled out bar if you like to watch your football or what not :)

Try the Palms Pool bar , first complex on your left as you drive down past medical centre, none residents welcome.

Great nightly entertainment and good food. Will be there in two weeks, can't wait for sunshine .

Had a nice meal at a pub called The Old Mill, I think. It was up the road the runs opposite the Albatross apartments. Great pub food and nice hosts.

A great day out would be tO aqua park (not Siam park). We take our children (3&5) every year we visit. It's tailored for younger children and they allow you to take picnics in with you. I highly recommend.

Beaches, el medano is good or you could consider las galletas. We go to las galletas as the beach by the harbour is perfect for a number of reasons, you park along the road right by the beach, there are a few stands that sell drinks, ice creams etc, the sea is very shallow and no sudden drops. It's not a beautiful blue sea but from safety point of view, there is very little to be worried about. It's also a lot quiter than Los cristianos. We usually finish the day by going for dinner at the Mexican restaurant which overlooks the harbour :-) however there are lots of others to choose from.

Play areas - they are in most towns. At San Blas there is a small one near the top, Los Abrigos has one in the village square, las galletas behind the promenade area.

Most restaurants are very child friendly, our usual haunts are tapas n chill, bistro 27, rendezvous (special dinner as expensive), the wild geese has play area but it is near the smoking area, Aguamarina has a all you can eat buffet restaurant and you can then use the hotel amenities afterwards

El Médano is very close and has a lovely beach, play areas for the kids and lots of choice for eating, coffee, ice cream etc. There is also a market on a saturday morning. This little town always has a real soul to it.
