Trip to Nevis

Please help us plan a day trip to Nevis. Sailing sounds like fun but we wish to take a short tour of the island, not just stop for lunch. Thanks!

The day sail excursions that go to Nevis won't allow you enough time to adequately tour the island (your only there a relatively short time - lunch and a swim).

If you want to tour the island your best bet is to take the Passenger ferry from Basseterre to Charlestown and hire one of the taxi driver/guides that will be waiting at the dock.

If you have a rental car and are comfortable driving on the island you can take SeaBridge Car ferry from Major's Bay to Cades Bay on Nevis and do your 'own tour".

How far is Basseterre from the Marriott?

Do you have any idea what we should pay for a taxi tour?

Where should we have lunch?

Thanks so much for your help!

Basseterre is maybe 10 minutes from the Marriott. Have lunch at Sunshine's on Pinney's Bay (near the Four Season's)

CaribSurfer has best advise. For a full day have the Marriot get a hold of "Mr. Sea Moss" and have him arrange the taxi to Cockleshell Beach and the water taxi, "Sea Brat" over to Nevis. Encourage some friends to share the costs as for just the two of you (?) might be $80 or more for journey...well worth the minimum time involved. Once on Nevis at the Oualie Beach Hotel landing, there will be lots of options for touring if you can pull back from the laid back atmosphere at the landing. The Oualie Beach Hotel also can recommend a guide if your earlier taxi persons haven't met your needs. By all means and ways....go to Nevis, it is a lovely island with a true Caribbean experience for you. Cheers, (read my recent trip report) Richard.
