Treasure Cay Safety?

My husband and I are planning a trip with another couple this coming spring. We are looking for somewhere with beautiful beaches that is also safe. Can anyone provide some insight into the safety of Treasure Cay? Is the area somewhere where you can feel safe walking home from the bar or restaurant when it is dark out?

The Abacos are very safe. There are some issues with theft but crimes against persons are extremely rare. The mosquitoes are the biggest night time risk. :-) If you haven't settled on a specific location yet, do some research. Treasure is on Great Abaco. Although they have a beautiful white sand beach, it is not an ocean beach, it is a Sea of Abaco, more like a bay, beach. The ocean waves are come in over a coral reef that runs along the east edge of the barrier islands on the other side of the "bay". Green Turtle Cay, Guana Cay and Elbow Cay all have resorts and guest cottage rentals and have ocean beaches. Yes, they are more expensive. Yes, Treasure and Marsh Harbor have more gift shops, grocery stores and restaurants but the barrier islands have the beauty and character you might be hoping for.
