Cost of Food and Drink

Hi

We are looking to go to Sidari next summer and have never been to Corfu before. We are unsure whether to go half board or self catering. The half board option would be in an apartment. Can anyone please advise the average cost of eating and drinking out. We tend to drink lager mostly. Also what are the prices like in the supermarkets if we were to stay in on a couple of nights for food and drink.

Many thanks

Hi, I've just come back from Sidari last week. Prices for eating out are good. Some examples are: massive full English breakfasts with juice drink and choice of tea or coffee from 4 to 5 euros. Gyros around 2.5 to 3 euros for a small one for lunch. Evening meals off the menu, typical Greek dishes around 6 to 8 euros in most places. Also most places have their own specials boards outside. A couple of times we had the chicken souvlaki at Madissons which was lovely and a bargain at only 5.50 euros. Drinks were 5.50 for a small wine caraffe or 9 euros for a large, soft drinks 2 euros to 2.8 euros depending on the place, local beer 2 to 3 euros.

yeah just back here as well.....family of 4...kids both 10 yrs,,,,,ate out every night,,,,1 of the kids ate adult meals each time so 3 adult meals 2 alcohol drinks and 2 cokes came to approx. 38-45 euros each night

special boards everywere usually steaks and ribs and chicken dishes but costing 5-7 euros so we found it very cheap.

mythos or Amstel was 2-3 euros a pint

we mostly ate supermarket stuff for lunch ie rolls ,tomato , ham , cheese and this was about 6 euros give or take for 4 of us

Supermarket food is often cheaper than the UK if you are prepared to buy local, seasonal stuff. Stick to UK products and it will be more expensive. Most of our meals cost about €1 per portion and we do not stint.
