End of October

Hoping to stay in Koutouloufari for last week in October. Will there still be plenty of bars and restaurants open? And what is the weather like at this time?

Hi there

We stayed in thegeneral area around Koutouloufari a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty quiet for September - it had more of a mid October feel to it. many local bars and restaurants said that after the last wee4kend in August, it was like everyone just disappeared. There are still visitors around of course until the final week of October so you won't have a problem finding places to eat and drink during your stay.

There are also some good places to eat in the neighbouring villages of Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos. Weather should be OK, not baking hot, but pleasantly warm. Just be aware that you might get an overcast day or the odd shower.

You will like the atmoshere in this period and see that there are plenty of tavernas open, try also the ones in the local villages. Besides that there are still autumn holidays end of October, so completely empt it will not be there

We got back from Marni Village on Saturday, and we ate out in Koutouloufari every evening. It was very quiet and some places did seem to be shutting up shop. By our last day, several restaurants had shut for the winter, but the ones regularly recommended on here were still open.

There seemed to be more special offers around as restaurants tried to attract the shrinking number of visitors, and the additional treats that came with our meals increased with every visit.

I hope you enjoy your stay - we loved it!

Thanks for all the responses. We have stayed there before but earlier in the season and we loved it. It looks like there will still be plenty of places to eat and drink, so it's looking like a serious contender!

Hi again

Bear in mind that there are places to dine in both Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos which as you no doubt know are along the same road that goes through Koutouloufari. We ate at "To Margo" taverna in Old Hersonissos and had the best kalimares ever.

You may not found the hasle and bussle of the high season, but you will be amazed with the friendly atmosphere on Crete ERYWHERY in the after season. Try Crete in the winter and you will return
