Has anyone stayed at the Albouro Apartments

I'm very excited for my first visit to Kefalonia staying at the Albouro Apartments. We booked today after reading promising TA reviews - going mid May 9th as the flights were a good price for that week and we're. on a budget I understand the weather can be quite changeable at that time of year but we're just hoping it will be warmer than the uk!!

Any recommendations for nice tavernas or unmissable things to see/do would be most welcome .We're just looking for a chilled out week with a few walks & maybe the odd boat trip please.

Hi. Stayed at Albouro about 12 years ago, two of us had one of the mezzanine rooms. Probably one of the biggest rooms we have ever been assigned to as we normally go "room only" in Greece. It was very clean and airy, quite well appointed. All rooms do have a sea view, genuinely 150m to the beach

You do realise that Katelios defines the word quiet. There really is very little to do apart from walk and chill. We revisited Katelios when we were on Kefalonia in 2011 and nothing has changed.

There is plenty to see on Kefalonia however, get a car and explore, we don't normally return to Greek islands that we have been to but we are going in May and this will be our third visit

Hi crockerlady,

Important point that about transport! The bus service is not designed for tourists! It is quite cheap to hire a car in May. You should be able to get one for about 200 euros for a week and collect it from the airport. If transfer to your apartment is not included in the holiday then a taxi will cost you about 35 -40 euros each way. There are no buses from the airport. If you just want a car for a day or two you should be able to get one in Katelios.

Three car hire companies that regularly get praise on these forums are Pefanis, Greekstones, Venus Car Hire. There are other equally reliable companies.

There will possibly be excursions but it is right at the beginning of the season.

Boat trips run from Skala (check Captain Vangelis website for further details). Without a car you may have to book a taxi to Skala from Katelios.

Kaminia beach is within walking reach and the sea there is shallow for about 50 metres from the beach.

St Georges Castle is well worth a visit and should be accessible by bus from Katelios but check the timetables. Argostoli, the capital will also be accessible by bus.

Weather will be warm but with the possibility of showers or even thunderstorms. The rain will however be warm!! During the evening I often needed a long sleeved shirt and my wife needed a light cardigan (we wore other clothes as well!!).

Let us know if you will be hiring a car and then there are a lot more places worth seeing.

Enjoy your time in Kef

Bob

Thanks bob - we dont really intend to have to venture out too far on this particular trip and as long as we can be easily fed and watered with the occasional scenic walk I think we'll be fine so judging by the reports on katelios we should have a good week - your input is much appreciated -mel
