Don't know about Cayo Largo but I saw a beautiful black hummmingbird at the MCSM one year. Had a brilliant turquoise colour on it's throat.

Does that help?

The hummingbird you are most likely to see on Cayo Largo is the Cuban Emerald. It is the one pictured on Spunky's link. Here's a picture I took at Villa Coral last year.

I just saw one off my balcony @ playa blanca yesterday. Gone by the time I got to my camera.

"Gone by the time I got to my camera."

The most frustrating thing is just getting them in frame, than as you click.....gone! It takes a certain amount of luck to get a good shot.....

The Emerald, Bee (smallest in the world) and Ruby-Throated (rare) are the only hummingbirds you are likely to see in Cuba.

But plenty of other birds to see:
