Villa Mare Lourdas Kefalonia

Have booked the villa mare in Lourdas for mid June. Does anyone know this place or have stayed here? Keep looking for reviews on Trip Advisor but the most recent one is Oct 12. Any info would be much appreciated thanks. Looking forward to it not long now!

I have just got back from staying there (last night). We found it basic, but enjoyed our stay there. The owner is in Canada but his son Alex is doing a great job in running the place. The pool is quiet, as is the resort, but that's what suited us. We travelled with Thomas Cook and Emily the rep is very helpful with any questions you may have.

If there's anything specific you want to know about Villa Mare or the resort, ask away.

Thanks for the reply. We go this week and expect it to be pretty basic as long as its clean. Hope we are lucky enough to get a room with a view.

The top floor of the Villa Mare is a Penthouse suite that is normally rented out independently.

Best views then are from the middle floor at the front, the ground floor rooms at the front are also nice as are the rooms upstairs at the back nearest the pool but not facing it, they have a side view but also a view of the sea to the left.

The worst rooms are beneath the main staircase on the ground floor at the side of the building as they have no view at all, they will be a bit cooler however.

Here are some of my photographs, it is really a nice place and in a great position being right next to the Park with its short cut up to the Kefeneion in Lourdata square, sure beats the road.

Thanks for the lovely photos furryone2. Does look nice. We go tomorrow. Still hope we get given a room with a view fingers crossed.

Just a couple of questions. Is there somewhere close where we can get milk and bread etc just for breakfast.? Don't get there until evening.

Can you get car hire easily when you get there ? We have a transfer included and wanted to decide there if we feel like hiring one and for how long?

There is a minimart near the end of the lane if you walk the small road behind the pool which leads to the main road that leads to Lourdas seafront. Much easier than walking along the seafront and up the hill to it. There is another next to Climatis Taverna on the seafront road. There is a car hire at the square in Lourdata across the road from Platanis Kafeneion (short cut path via park next to your apartments). There are more hire car places up the hill in Vlachata and also two larger supermarkets and many more eating places.

We were in a ground floor, side room. However, after asking the rep we were moved to a front facing studio after 3 days. We were on the ground floor, but still had great views and we also made use of the sun beds situated there.

Yes Sue, that was us. I already knew who you were from your posts on the other forum but I didn't want to come across as being too forward!
